New Pictures of Catherine
Cate is 18 months old now. Brian and I have been concerned about her development, but have come to realize that she is her own person. While Frances very early on had a lot of words, if only to let us all know who was boss, Cate has only the words she needs to express delight, the emotion she experiences most frequently. So, while she doesn't say Mommy or bottle or juice, she can say cool and wow and whoa and mine and run. And here she is being super silly.
Here she is doing two of her favorite things: brushing her teeth and looking through the hole of something. She's on top of the world here (the world being Mommy's shoulders.)

Cate in the World
Here are some pictures of Cate playing. The first two are from a Saturday morning at the duck pond in Hampton park. The third is from James Island County Park on MLK Day. The fourth is at Claire and Larry's, but I don't really know why we were there.
Here's Cate trying to ride a bike (that's our friend Alison).
Here's Cate concentrating on bike riding:
Here's Cate sipping a cool drink after a full morning of trying to jump into the marsh:
Here's Cate after a very satisfying dinner (though I can't remember what she was eating):

The Many Faces of Catherine
Catherine will be 1 year old tomorrow. She can walk and say "uh-oh." She likes to put things inside and outside of boxes. She plays peek-a-boo with herself. And she licks the refrigerator when hungry. It's exhausting being a baby. Look for pictures of her eating chocolate birthday cake in the near future. For now, here are pictures from about a month ago. Check out her teeth in the last one.

Catherine in Louisiana
Catherine made her first trip to Louisiana. She had a great time and is well on her way to being a true Louisiana native despite not living there and having been born somewhere else. Below is a picture of Catherine, her sister Frances and her cousin Morgan (all of my mother's grandkids). They are sitting on the sofa in my sister's living room. What you can't see is the glass top table right in front of the sofa and the 51-inch screen television just beyond that. Catherine most of our time there either standing on top of the table screaming or banging on the television with all her might (she is surprisingly strong). When not doing this she was stealing Morgan's pacifiers and toys and laughing about it.
This is Cate playing a toy that confused all the adults.
This is baby Morgan, Cate's cousin. She's four months old and so cute we thought we'd share our blog space.
This is Bliss, another cousin. She's nine months old. That's my mother holding her.
